The UUCGB Book and Potato Peel Pie Society update

We had a lovely and interesting discussion on A MAN CALLED OVE and FARENHEIT 451 on Saturday while sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather.

We decided the book for May will be ECHO by Patricia Munoz Ryan.
Lost and alone in a forbidden forest, Otto meets three mysterious sisters and suddenly finds himself entwined in…

If you are one who likes listening to Audio books and has Audible this is a good one for that.

We have not decided on a June read yet but did decide that our summer read would be Strangers in Their Own Land by Arlie Russel Hochschild.

Strangers in Their Own Land
Strangers in Their Own Land
In Strangers in Their Own Land, the renowned sociologist Arlie Hochschild embarks on a thought-provoking journey…

If you have a suggestion for a good summer read for our June book please let me know.

We also discussed a book swap at each meeting where you bring one or two books that you’ve read and are willing to pass on to someone else – we could get some good summer reading that way.

The May meeting will be Saturday, May 27th – we know that’s Memorial Day weekend but since most of us plan to be around we decided it would work. We will meet at the church but it was suggested people bring outdoor chairs and if the weather is nice we will meet outside.

Our last meeting before the summer is supposed to be on June 24 – if people would be okay with me bumping that up one weekend to June 17th please let me know as I have a family commitment on the 24th. (I’m fine if that doesn’t work for everyone – just thought I’d ask)

If I’ve forgotten anything please let me know. Happy Reading!!
