Communications

helping people connect

The Communications Committee connects people by spreading information about the church and its friends and members, to the church community and to the larger community, by using different media, both low tech and high tech.

The Drummer is the church newsletter which is published once a month. The newsletter communicates to the church community about current events, concerns, and news. Anyone wishing to learn about the church can request that they receive the Drummer by email or by US Mail. Please contact the Administrator to receive the Drummer.

Publicity makes certain that church-related news and activities reach the wider community through local newspapers, and occassionally radio and TV stations.

The church email list and phone tree let friends and members communicate to the church community about events and other items of common interest.

This website was designed and is maintained by the committee. Current and long-standing information about our church and church community help provide a window for the larger community to see inside our church. The committee encourages items of interest be forwarded to the webmaster or to the church Administrator for inclusion on the website.

Lastly, and most importantly, the committee is charged with envisioning and recommending new and imaginative ways to communicate within the church and with the larger community.

how to be part of the communications team

Every member and friend of the church is an asset to the communications committee whether or not they are a member of the committee, help in a project, or use the tools we work to bring to the church. We appreciate the time and effort and all of the suggestions that you have given over the years that help people in the church community connect.

My symphony

To live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion;
to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich;
to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart;
to study hard;
to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never;
in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

-William Henry Channing, clergyman, reformer (1810-1884)
