Education page info for the visually impaired ![]() Greetings from the Director of Religious Education UUCGB's Children and Youth Religious Education program offers a safe and welcoming setting in which young people can explore, grow, and learn through study, play, sharing, and worship. In their classrooms students learn about Unitarian Universalist values and history, our Jewish and Christian heritages, World Religions, and Social & Environmental Justice. Through various intergenerational activities, including family services, children's worship services, service projects, and social activities, our program encourages commitment to the community, social ethics in the wider world, and exploration of personal spiritual development. For more information please contact me at: Ellen Greist, Director of Religious Education
The Program Learning doesn't know any age limit at the
UU Church of Greater Bridgeport. Classes and discussion groups are available
for all generations. To enroll your children
in Sunday school, or your teens in Junior or Senior
Youth group, Coming of Age, or AYS, contact Director of Religious Education,
church office. To volunteer to teach Sunday School, advise
a youth group, assist our minister with the Coming of Age course, or
facilitate or conduct another course for children or teens, contact
the Education Committee or our Director of Religious Education. To take part in the planning and work that
ensures a thriving and rewarding educational program at the church,
contact the Education Committee. Especially For Children The Junior Youth Group is open to all middle school students. It meets weekly for discussion, event planning, and charitable work. Part of the Junior Youth Group years is given to "Coming of Age," an intensive course and field trip in which the younger teens review the history, principles, and traditional aims of the Unitarian Universalist movement, in preparation for deciding whether to join the church as junior members. The Senior Youth Group offers opportunities for high school students to discuss current issues, refine their beliefs, and contribute to the community at large. In addition to weekly discussions, the group traditionally leads at least one worship service each year and lends its energies and time to charitable causes. With the permission of their parents or guardians,
both junior and senior teens are welcome to attend a biyearly seminar
designed to teach adolescents about the moral and physical responsibilities
of sexual adulthood. |

How to Reserve Church Facilities ![]() "Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; Where knowledge is free; Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth; Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection; Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit; Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action -- Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake." -- Rabindranath Tagore
