Learning Community Courses

These once-a-month events require signing up at least one week in advance of the program
 in Fellowship Hall or by calling Wendy Swain at 203-386-9125.

Friday, February 25—Create your own Cards, Invitations and Photo Montages

With your own home computer – using either Adobe or Corel software (PhotoShop, Elements, PhotoPaint, etc.).

Learn how to improve your digital photos – add light, remove red-eye or unwanted backgrounds, eliminate whatever shouldn’t be there, change or perfect colors, etc.

Bob Swain and Bert Schmidt – both computer graphics professionals – will show you how, on a computer-projector. And then you can ask your own questions and have them demonstrate how.

Also, free summary-handout of tips for participants (as well as demo version of PhotoShop if needed).

7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Lounge. Sign up in the UUCGB Social Hall Sundays or e-mail either Bert (bschmitz@att.net ) or Bob (uu4u@surfbest.net) – so they will know how many to set up for.

 

Sunday, March 20— Geology of New York City

Bring a bag lunch and coffee to the Lounge for a very special slide show presented by Madison UU Sid Horenstein, senior staff member, now retired, and geologist at the American Museum of Natural History. Sid will show us the “Geology of New York City” –a fascinating presentation!! The time is 12 noon to 1:30 in the Lounge.

 

 

Saturday, April 9—The Sights, Sounds and Tastes of Saudi Arabia

With the Marcatos – Karen and Peter. Come enjoy some Saudi delicacies with a discussion and photos from the Marcatos’ five-year sojourn in the country. 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Lounge.

Mondays, monthly, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., in the Lounge.

The Book Discussion Group is ongoing. The books to be read are chosen by consensus of the group. Everyone is invited to participate and reading the book selection is encouraged but not required. The March meeting marks the second anniversary of our group. New members are always welcome.

WomenConnect

WomenConnect brings together women of the congregation for fellowship and fun. Meets are monthly on the second Wednesday of the month throughout the year.

All women in the congregation are welcome. Join us occasionally or on a regular basis!!

Men’s Group

The Men’s Group is an ongoing, principally social group focused on sharing and discussion. The Men’s Group—like WomenConnect—meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the UUCGB Youth Group Room. A reminder of meetings is e-mailed before each gathering, in addition to church E-mails and Sunday order-of-service announcements. To get on the list, email  Bob Swain at uu4u@surfbest.net.

 

Friday Nights at the MUUvies

The Muuvie group meets to watch a movie at a local theater or at someone’s home on the last Friday of the month. Discussion of the film takes place over coffee and dessert. (Dessert is brought by everyone to share and coffee is provided by the hosts.) Movies are announced the Thursday before through emails.
