Programs and Operations
a chance to build and grow

If you want to take part,
just dive right in.

Look around. Talk with the members and friends of the church. And if you don't see what you want, tell somebody, tell a lot of somebodies. New ideas are welcome here. New things are created here.

And here's a brief overview to get you started:
major programs and events

Major programs and events are traditionally planned and carried out by designated individuals or groups in cooperation with permanent committees of the church. These committees are --

Communications
Denominational Affairs
Education
Fellowship
Finance
House and Property
Music
Personnel

Social Action
Sunday Services

All members and friends are welcome to attend meetings of any of these committees, as well as meetings of the Board, and may join any of the committees except as chair.

Many people who want to participate do not want to do so at the committee level, though. They, instead, go right to the source: the individuals or groups who are planning and carrying out specific activities and events. To get an updated list of planned activities and events contact the church office for a current calender

clubs and groups

The church is host to an ever-changing and expanding number of groups, covering a wide range of interests -- from international business aid to rhythmic movement and dance, from ethnic cooking to computer programming. Anyone -- member, friend of the church, or visitor -- is welcome to drop in at any of these meetings or to attend regularly.

Former Bridgeport mayor, state legislator, and showman P.T. Barnum was a member, until his death in 1891, of the Universalist Church of Bridgeport, now known as the UUCGB.

(General Tom Thumb may have attended as well -- for a short time.)
